Ski & Sail Svalbard

Ski mountaineering at 78–79° north is as exotic as ski trips get. Spitsbergen is the only inhabited island in the Svalbard archipelago: a remote, wild place of glaciated peaks and wildlife with world-class skiing. Sailing among mountains and glaciers that rise from the sea is an experience of a lifetime, and each day we sail to a new location, close to nature, wildlife and untouched powder. Conditions change quickly, so we only use IFMGA-certified ski guides with local knowledge, giving you a flexible programme with the best knowledge and safety.

Svalbard is one of the northernmost land areas in the world, lying between 74° and 81° north. Most of it is still pristine, with no roads or other signs of people; 60 percent is covered in ice and less than ten percent has any vegetation. We plan every tour around the best conditions along Spitsbergen’s wild west coast. Each day starts with a good breakfast before we sort our equipment and go looking for powder.

Svalbard’s skiing, scenery and wildlife are unique. Because this is polar bear country, our guides always carry firearms. An average day is 6–8 hours round trip, and since the sun never really sets, we can adjust the schedule to any time of day or night. Back on board it’s time for dinner, fishing, sailing and planning the next day’s destination.
