Reka

If you want a magnificent hike in stunning surroundings, finished with a spectacular ridge climb to the summit, this one is for you. Reka is the landmark of Vesterålen, Lofoten’s neighbouring islands, and one of Norway’s hardest summits to reach by its easiest route. Not many people have stood on its pointed top.

The day starts with a hike up a picturesque valley ringed by jagged peaks. After a short climb we reach the south-west ridge, rope up and start climbing. There are quite a few pitches, but they never get very hard. At the summit ridge we scramble a few hundred metres to the true summit. After lunch we abseil the route back to the base of the mountain.

You’ll need reasonable fitness for the length of the day, but no previous climbing experience. Get in touch if you’d like to climb this spectacular peak.

One of our guides will contact you a couple of days before with the meeting place and timings.

From the parking we hike 2 km before heading up steeper slopes to the col. The approach is about 3.5 km and takes around two hours.

At the col we put on the rope and climbing gear. It takes about an hour to reach the summit, and we descend the same way by several abseils.

Back at the col we take off our climbing gear and walk out the same valley.
