A hidden gem in Vesteralens backyard

If you like to have a magnificent hike in stunning surroundings, with a spectacular ridge climb to reach the summit, this one is for you. Reka is a landmark on Lofotens neighbor island Vesterålen that really appeals to be climbed. Its also one of Norway's hardest summits to reach by its easiest way. Not many people has stood on this pointy summit.

The trips starts with hiking in a picturesque valley with jagged peaks surrounding you. After a short climb you reach the south west ridge. Here we put on a rope and start climbing. There are quite a few pitches to be climbed, but they never get very hard. Reaching the summit ridge, you only have to scramble a few hundred meters to reach the true summit. After a lunch break we start descending by rappelling the route down to the base of the mountain.

You should have mediocre fitness because of the length of the trip, but you don’t need any prior knowledge when it comes to climbing. Don’t hesitate to give us a call if you want to summit this spectacular summit.

Itinerary:

One of our guides will contact you a couple of days before the trip with information about meeting place and time schedules.

From the parking lot we hike for 2 kilometres before we start hiking up the steeper slopes to the col. The approach is approximately 3,5 kilometres in total and takes about 2 hours.

From the col we put on the rope and climbing gear. it takes about an hour to reach the summit. We descend the same way we climbed by several rapells.

Down again at the col we take off our climbing gear and continue down and out the same valley we walked in.
